I’m sure you had, as me, a very long half-term holidays if you live in London. The problem is in winter when you need a lot of indoor activities. And everything is so expensive in London. So we need cheap alternatives. I found this Museum that I didn’t even know it existed until yesterday.
Horseman Museum is in Forest Hill, London. It is free and it has really nice galleries to go with the children. You can discover animals, musical instruments, lots of ethnographic objects at the Africa Gallery and it has a little aquarium as well, but you need a ticket for that. My favourite was the Centenary Gallery.
As well, you can download a free App in the App Store and entertain the kids, looking for objects through all the galleries in this game. My 5 year-old loved that and kept him entertained for an hour!
The winter is coming very soon, and again we have the question of what to do with the children in wet, cold weather in England. Well, the Science Museum is a great option. First of all, its free, which is very important these days. They have a basement which has lovely activities for children from aged from 3 to 6 years, where they can play with water, sound and lights – its fantastic. On the 3rd floor you have an area known as the Launchpad, which also has a lot of activities for little ones and older kids. They are educational and help kids learn about maths, physics, chemistry and materials.
I really love this museum, my son is 3 and he loves it too. It has all the facilties for families and small children, so you can as well buy lunch there or bring your own lunch and eat it in the basement.
